My work is heavily influenced by nonspecific tribal ceremonies and rituals from all over the world, and the The Bay Area Figurative movement of the 50s and 60s. I experiment in wet and dry media, in both small and large scale paintings and drawings. My style is characterized by purposeful mark making and an economy of line which creates a sense of form suspended in space, a kind of portraiture that transforms and deconstructs the human figure into elements of a still life, often featuring costumes made from plants and animals. Hip hop culture has forever been incredibly influential for me, adding a sense of energy with more aggressive mark making.
